River Nile & Cruise

The 'Jury is Out' with regards to determination whether the River Nile or the Amazon River is the world's longest river. There is an agreement that the River Nile is the longest international river in the world as its drainage basin covers 11 countries (Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Ethiopia, Eritrea, South Sudan, Sudan and Egypt) with a length of 4,258 miles. The White Nile and the Blue Nile meet at the Sudan city of Khartoum. It follows the route to Alexandria and the Mediterranean Sea via Aswan, Luxor and Cairo. We boarded the cruise ship in Aswan and travelled to Luxor in four days with an interruption for a visit to the Temples of Kom Ombo and Edfu.
